Amy Pantele, MS LPC

I’m Amy Pantele, a licensed professional counselor and the founder of Whole Self Counseling. My work is grounded in the belief that healing happens when we feel truly seen, understood, and supported enough to look inward with curiosity and compassion.

Most of the people I work with don’t necessarily come in thinking of themselves as “trauma survivors.” They come in because they feel anxious all the time, find it hard to relax, or notice patterns in relationships that don’t make sense. Sometimes this looks like chronic stress, health struggles, hypervigilance, or pulling away from others. Together, we explore where these patterns began and the role they once served. From there, we learn new ways of responding that bring relief, clarity, and connection.

My approach is practical and collaborative. I specialize in complex trauma and dissociative issues, drawing from integrative methods including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), somatic and attachment-focused frameworks—so we can tailor our work to fit your needs, not the other way around. I work with teens, adults, couples, and families navigating trauma, stress, and relationship challenges, as well as those adjusting to major life changes. This is a space for those seeking a safe, steady place to heal at their own pace.

Outside of the office, I’m a mother, partner, and someone who values grounding, authentic spaces. I bring that same steady presence into my work, creating a place where you can take a breath, lay things down, and move toward growth.

FAQs

  • Not at all. Many clients seek therapy because they feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves or their relationships. You do not need a specific diagnosis or a clearly defined trauma history to benefit from this work.

My trauma specialization informs my understanding of the mind–body connection and how past experiences, physical symptoms, thought patterns, and emotions interact and contribute to current challenges. Through this lens, we can often gain clarity around the patterns you’re experiencing and strengthen your ability to understand and respond to your own needs. Together, we’ll focus on building self-awareness, grounding skills, and a greater sense of balance—no matter where you are right now.

  • I work with children (age 7+), adolescents, and adults of all ages. My approach adjusts to each stage of development—whether that means helping a child build emotional awareness, supporting a teen through identity or stress-related challenges, or guiding adults through trauma recovery, relationship patterns, or major life transitions.

  • I am an out-of-network provider, which means I don’t bill insurance directly. Many clients choose self-pay because it keeps their care fully private and allows us to focus on what’s most important, rather than what insurance will cover.

If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill (an itemized receipt) that you can submit for possible reimbursement. Each plan is different, so it’s a good idea to check your coverage in advance.

I also reserve a limited number of spaces for reduced-rate sessions and small focused groups also offer specialized support at a lower rate.

  • You’re welcome to choose whichever setting feels most comfortable. I offer in person sessions at my cozy office in Greer—convenient to Greenville County—as well as secure telehealth sessions available to clients anywhere in South Carolina.

I also provide on-site support and collaborative services with community organizations that serve seniors, first responders, and veterans. (Note: These services are provided independently and are not connected to the VA or other government agencies.)

  • Your first session is a 90-minute psychological evaluation, giving us space to slow down and get a clear picture of what you’ve been experiencing. We’ll talk through your current concerns, life circumstances, symptoms, history, and goals — all at a pace that feels comfortable. You’re never expected to go deeper than you’re ready for, and there’s no pressure to disclose anything before it feels safe.

This meeting is both an assessment and a chance for us to get to know each other. We’ll begin outlining your goals and discuss what therapy may look like for you — whether that involves individual work, couples sessions, or a specific focus such as anxiety, stress, or trauma-related concerns.

By the end of the evaluation, you’ll have a sense of direction and an initial plan for moving forward, with the understanding that therapy is flexible and will continue to evolve with your needs over time.

  • There’s no single timeline for therapy — your needs and goals set the pace. Some people come for a few months to work through a specific issue or life transition, while others find that ongoing therapy offers deeper support, especially when navigating trauma, long-term stress, or patterns that developed over time.

In our early sessions, we’ll talk about what brought you here and what feels realistic for you. We’ll check in regularly to see how therapy is helping, adjust our approach as needed, and make sure the work continues to feel meaningful and aligned with your goals.

Whether short-term or ongoing, therapy is a flexible, collaborative process — you’re never locked into a set number of sessions.

What is Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)?

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is an evidence-based form of psychotherapy that uses eye movements and a structured protocol to help the brain process and resolve distressing memories, sensations, or images. ART works to change the way these experiences are stored in the brain — so they no longer cause strong emotional or physical reactions when recalled.

Unlike traditional psychotherapy, ART does not require retelling every detail of a painful experience. Through guided eye movements and visualization, clients can achieve relief from symptoms related to trauma, anxiety, grief, and other stress-related conditions.

During an ART session, you’ll be guided through specific eye movements while recalling or visualizing a situation you’d like to work on. This process helps your brain integrate the experience in a new way, reducing distress while keeping your factual memory intact.
